Movie Review - “Awake”

Just yesterday I watched a pretty good movie called “Awake”.

Here’s a quick summary from IMDB.com.

So I just watched this movie yesterday, and I have to say it was pretty good and damn scary at times. It’s about a young billionaire who has a heart condition and desperately needs a transplant. He meets a girl with whom he falls in love with, when in fact that girl is a nurse working in the hospital where he will be operated, and also she is friends with the surgeon and the other doctors that will perform the heart transplant operation. Their plan is to operate on him, inject the new heart with some killer substance, put the heart in, and then say that the transplant failed. Since the girl he met, the nurse, became his wife, she would get all the money after he died, and she could share with all the other doctors. This plan though, fails miserably. Hayden Christiansen, the guy that plays the billionaire, gets something called “anesthesia awareness” during his surgery, meaning he is awake during the operation, he can hear everything, and the worst of all, FEEL anything. The other worst part is that he can’t move anything, he is stuck there, on the operating table, hearing the doctors, and the sound of the saw machine used to cut open the chest. Oh my god, in the scene where they started opening his chest, and at the same time we “hear” the thoughts of Hayden, the screams. I can’t even imagine how damn awful it must be, having your chest open with a saw, while being totally awake, but not being able to stop it. He tries to calm himself by thinking of his new wife, Jessica Alba, and I have to say she does look pretty in the movie. Eventually, on the operating table, he learns that all the doctors are planning to kill him. He is like “WTF???? WTF did I do??”, since the surgeon was actually his friend. So goes again to thinking about his new wife, and then she enters the room. Hayden that learns she is also in the plot to kill him so then is like MAJOR WTF. She exits the room by saying something in the ways of “We didn’t even know each other” which makes Hayden cry… That was pretty sad, since they looked like a pretty good couple together, it really looked like they loved each other. Ok, so what happens next? The surgeons manage to pull it off and they tell his mother that the operation wasn’t successful, but his is still in bypass. The mother though, was pretty damn noticing and she saw through the fog, and noticed what the new wife and the surgeons are planning. So she sees killing herself as the only option, so that her son can get her heart. So she takes a whole bottle of pills, and kills herself. Then the police come because one of the guys, surgeons, gets scared and tells the whole story, looks like he doesn’t want to end up in jail. Then the new surgeons come, and they transplant the heart successfully YAYAYAY. And then WTF, the movie ends…. I mean, come on, at least give us a cool ending, like Hayden Christiansen meeting up with Jessica again and saying like “But why????”. That would be a good scene to watch. One of the things that really made me think in the movie is why she did it…. I mean, she married him anyways, and he loved her so much that he would allow her to spend as much money as she wants anyways. By being in a plot to kill him, she not only risks legal action, but if it is successful, she would need to share it with like 5 other people…. Just why…..?

Ok, so what did I learn from this movie, aka what was the motif?

NEVER FUCKING TRUST ANYONE, NOT PRETTY GIRLS, NOT DOCTOR FRIENDS. OH YEAH, YOU CAN TRUST YOUR MOM!!!

Lost and Heroes both in hiatus….

I am an avid fan of both the show Lost and Heroes, but as you may or may not know, none of the shows are running right now, they are both in hiatus which is very sad….

If you don’t know any of the shows here is a quick overview from IMDB.com

Heroes:

They thought they were like everyone else… until they woke with incredible abilities.

Lost:

After a mysterious and bloody airplane crash, 48 survivors are left stranded on a Pacific Island… miles off course. It soon becomes apparent that they will not have to cope only with the forces of nature, but with the island’s secrets, including the Dharma Initiative, the ‘Lost Numbers’, the “others” (or hostiles) and the strange black smoke- to name a few. There is also much more than meets the eye, as it becomes apparent that everyone is connected in some way and that everyone has a purpose to live on the island… and for some, to die.

First it was Heroes which just randomly stopped in the middle of the damn season, on episode 12 or something…. I mean, come on, at least finish the season, don’t keep us waiting that long. Then, after season 3 finished, the writers strike again and we can’t have our Lost and Heroes episodes, urgh….. Okay, so some waiting, and Season 4 of Lost starts, I’m super excited, and watch it every Friday. After 8 episodes I go to IMDB to check up on things, forums etc, and I see that the release date for the Lost Episode 09 is 24 April, which is like a month of difference, unlike the normal one week differential. I mean, it’s not even the middle of the season and they just randomly make a 1 month break. Come on, people that make Lost, get on with it, don’t keep us waiting, I really want to see what happens… Oh, and about Lost, get back on track or I’ll lose interest in the series…

New monitor - Samsung 245B

Hey!!

I have just ordered myself a new monitor, the Samsung 245B.

This will be an addition to 2 other monitors I already have, the 204B and the 172B. I have been overall very happy with the quality of Samsung monitors, the 172B, I have had for about 7 years now and its still working great as an MSN screen :).

Keep tuned for when I receive my new 24 inch monitor, I’ll try to write a short review then.

TUTORIAL - How to cheat in Facebook Tetris - BlockStar Cheating

A friend of mine once asked me how he could cheat in the facebook game Tetris, or Blockstar, so I made a tutorial how to do it in a pretty interesting way. As I’m no programmer, (well, I hope to improve….), this method doesn’t involve modifying the memory, and is very limited. But hey, if you want to beat someone it can get u that extra 300k points. I also have a video tutorial if you rather watching than reading, here it goes.

Step 1: Install the plugin called ReloadEvery for Firefox.

Step 2: Go to www.youtube.com and while holding CTRL, click on like 40 videos you can see on the main page. This will open all of them in a new tab.

Step 3: Right Click anywhere on any page and go to ReloadEvery. Select 5s intervals, and click enable for all tabs. This will make firefox run very slowly, and since there will be so many instances of flash running already, facebook Tetris will be really slow

Step 4: Head over to Facebook Tetris and play it. It will be really slow now. It all matters on your computer. If it’s not slow enough, open more tabs, if it’s too slow, close some

Massive spam!

Alright, so I don’t do a lot to this blog, and today one of my friends showed me just how much comment spam I got!!! This is unbelievable… This site is not even popular, I would be surprised if anyone actually read the article that I’m writing right now. I had like 72 pages of comment spam in the wordpress manager but that would take forever to delete so I used the phpmyadmin and deleted all the rows from the comment table. Much faster, but the thing now is that under each post a false number of posts is said. So now I deleted everything and quickly installed Simple Captcha from the wordpress plugins site. I hope that these gay ass spam bots aren’t smart enough to get through that.

Pirate Bay.org - Torrent Tracker

This article talks about “The Pirate Bay”, a large Swedish torrent tracker, and about the supposed problems it brings to the phonographic industry. The site was already shut down once, but only for 3 days, as national protests emerged saying that the United States forced the Swedish parliament to undertake action against the activities of “The Pirate Bay”, which were and still are legal under the current Swedish law.

The information system here is the networked servers of “The Pirate Bay” and the complex programming structure that makes it tick. A user that wants to download the newest television show episode will go their website, and input their query which will result in the site indexing all the torrent files it could find, along with vital info such as seed/leech ratio. The programmer in The Pirate Bay team is as of now coding a new and improved p2p program that would enhance the security of the users using it. Also, “The Pirate Bay’s” servers don’t actually host any content; they merely index it, which as of now is legal in Sweden.
The main ethical issue that The Pirate Bay brings up is intellectual property, as the files that this tracker indexes are mostly programs, music and films which are all copyrighted. A representative of the phonographic industry is arguing that if people download music for free, it reduces the revenue, which leads to the companies not being able to pay the artists, which sounds rather like a joke. Founders of The Pirate Bay are arguing that they still go to cinema, they still go to concerts, and they tell their friends to, so in fact they are contributing to the profits of the music industry. They also say that when technology advances, the process can’t be reverted and that the industry just has to accept downloadable music as a reality. The Pirate Bay team brings up a great comparison - “Nobody is crying that people who used to go around selling ice to people do not have a job anymore because of the fridge”. They are also saying that if, by any chance, the Swedish law changes and makes it illegal to host a torrent indexer, they’ll just move to another country that doesn’t have a problem with it.

The area of impact of The Pirate Bay is most definitely Arts, Entertainment and Leisure, as it allows people to download gigabytes of copyrighted music/video content which both serve entertainment purposes. One of the stakeholders, the phonographic industry, explains that this kind of activity totally destroys the Entertainment industry, while the users, also stakeholders, don’t give a damn and download what they want; a number is quoted that 1-2 million people in Sweden download content using torrents. The government is as of now not doing anything as they think there is no plausible solution, and The Pirate Bay team is enjoying themselves from the money they get from the on-site advertisements.
